Ten Percent is a new TV series on Amazon Prime, starring the likes of Jim Broadbent, Kevin McNally, David Harewood, Lorraine Kelly and Helena Bonham-Carter. Jack Davenport, Lydia Leonard and Maggie Steed are the main actors in the series, along with a tonne of celebrities appearing as themselves or other characters.
As IMDB has it – ‘the series takes place at a London talent agency where agents scramble to keep their star clients happy and their business afloat after the sudden death of their founder.’
Or, as one review put it, ‘an unnecessary remake of Call My Agent’. Call My Agent is a French comedy, which has been around for a very long time and has been generally very well received. This is course is not to be confused with ‘Ten Percent’, a 2008 film starring AG Longhurst, Lloyd Notice and Antonio Rochira. It is the story of the 1937 World Heavyweight Title fight between the Champion James (Cinderlla Man) Braddock and Joe (The Brown Bomber) Louis. The strapline for the film reads “As the two fighters question with their hearts and answer with their fists”. Not entirely sure what this means, but the one review on Amazon calls it a great independent film and a lovely story!
However, neither the new (2022) TV series called Ten Percent being released on Amazon Prime and advertised just about everywhere (I’ve just been blasted with a load of adverts at Euston Station hence this article), nor the 2008 film called Ten Percent should be confused with Ten Percent Legal Recruitment (https://ten-percent.co.uk), Ten Percent Financial Recruitment (https://www.tenpercentfinancial.co.uk) or the Ten Percent Group (https://www.tenpercentgroup.com). All of which have been around for over 20 years and well worth a visit if recruitment, buying and selling businesses or outsourced transcription/translation services float your boat!
