Winzip.com
This is a Windows compression utility that enables you to send (amongst other things) large files via email in a fraction of the time it would normally take. It works by squashing the file down, and means that files can be saved and put on a CD or memory stick to transfer to another computer. Similarly it is very useful if you are using a large file sending programme and need to put all your files into one sendable folder. Examples of free large file emailing programmes including Sendspace.com and Yousendit.com.

7 Zip is an open source piece of software which means there are no charges for using it. Winzip will allow you 30 days free but then you will be asked to buy the software.
