Leeds – cultural capital of West Yorkshire

Leeds is a busy city, offering the chance to enjoy plenty of nightlife, shopping facilities you would not expect to find, state of the art attractions not usually located outside London and good eating out places & entertainment.

Leeds’ reputation for shopping goes from strength to strength, with top fashion store Harvey Nichols and many designer names. The city centre possesses elegant Victorian and Edwardian arcades, small boutiques and speciality shops in a pedestrianised city centre.

On the tourism front, the Royal Armouries is the first national museum to house part of the Royal Collection from the Tower of London, in a £42 million home on the waterfront. Harewood House is the spectacular home of the Queen’s cousin, the Earl of Harewood, and the £6m Thackray Medical Museum is one of Leeds’ newest attractions.

Cultural events include opera and ballet in the park, the International Film Festival and quality theatre, and sports fans can enjoy top-class football (well almost!), rugby and cricket (!). A splendid choice of restaurants, bistros, café/bars and pubs around the city centre and waterfront account for five entries in the Good Food Guide and three coveted Michelin stars.
