April was fairly predictable, With all the bank holiday interruptions and Easter thrown in, very little recruitment actually occurred in the month as most people seemed to take the opportunity to book annual leave at some stage. Recruitment went beserk for a few days each side of the compulsory breaks as firms and candidates attempted to fit everything in, but arranging interviews is always interesting when partners are planning to take time off.
In April we had 27 vacancies registered, 17 interviews and 78 candidate registrations (solicitors, fee earners and legal support staff candidates).
This month will still see the duty solicitor rota deadlines (now extended for a week to May 13th for CDS12 submission) impacting on our business. In quite a large number of areas there is plenty of activity for solicitors between 1 and 10 years PQE, and most of our business is still from our candidate updates and firms making speculative enquiries about these or by searching our candidate database.
